Bravo Farms Resumes Cheesemaking Operations

More than two months after halting cheese-making production at its cheese factory in Traver, Bravo Farms announced Thursday that it has resumed operations.
The company’s Dutch-style gouda cheese was pulled from shelves in early November in San Diego Costco stores after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration linked it to an outbreak of E. coli. The gouda had been sampled by customers in store demonstrations.
Co-owner Jonathan Van Ryn said the cause of the contamination still hasn’t been determined, but appeared to be an isolated instance during a single day of production.
“We’ve tested and retested the factory for the source, but we haven’t found any evidence in the plant,” he said.
