Prime Time International Celebrates 25th Anniversary With A Special Commemorative Giveaway

Coachella, CA — Prime Time International, now one of the largest year-round growers, packers and shippers of multi-colored peppers in North America, is proudly celebrating its 25th anniversary. Based in Southern California’s Coachella Valley, Prime Time International has evolved to specialize in the growing and marketing of colored premium quality bell peppers. Today, Prime Time is known as “The Pepper People” with peppers available every day of the year from their farms located throughout the United States and Mexico.

Prime Time’s roots date back to 1991, when Sun and Sands Enterprises was established with the goal of producing the highest quality row crops in California. In 1992, Sun and Sands Enterprises formed a partnership with C.H. Sales to act as their exclusive distributor. In 1997, the two companies merged and began doing business as Prime Time International. Founders Carl Sam Maggio, Mark Nickerson, Chuck Hodges and Skippy Tostado began the quest to specialize in the growing and marketing of a booming new category – colored peppers. Mr. Hodges and Mr. Tostado have passed away, while today Carl and Mark remain actively involved in Prime Time. According to Mark Nickerson, “We have handed the day to day operations over to Mike Way and Jeff Taylor who now join Carl and me as Prime Time’s four Managing Partners. Davidi Compton has ably assumed the responsibilities for all farming operations.”

Through management’s many years of experience, they have located and secured optimum growing locations in California (Coachella, Bakersfield and Oxnard) as well as in Mexico (Baja, Culiacan and Jalisco). This ensures availability of green, yellow, orange and red peppers 365 days a year. Prime Time farms conventional field-grown peppers, organic peppers, and hothouse peppers. While the company focuses on the pepper category, they are also known for growing and marketing many seasonal items including cucumbers, sweet corn, watermelon, tomatoes, and green beans. Several years ago, Prime Time expanded their multi-colored pepper product mix by adding orange, red, and yellow Sweet Mini Peppers. Since the demand for this increasingly popular product has exploded in popularity, Prime Time also has Sweet Mini Peppers available throughout the year from all production areas.

At Prime Time, food safety and quality standards are strictly enforced, enabling them to meet their customers’ high standards. As the demand for peppers has skyrocketed, Prime Time has increased its emphasis on the importance of quality assurance at all stages of development, from growing to packing and distribution.
