WITTENBERG – Last fall, the World Health Organization proclaimed that processed meats — namely bacon — can cause cancer, consequently igniting a firestorm of panic on the Internet.
But that report clearly hasn't slowed down one local meat processor.
In fact, Wittenberg-based Nueske's Applewood Smoked Meats has had so much success with their signature bacon over the past few years that it's planning a $34 million expansion — and ultimately creating 65 jobs in the process.
