MIAMI — A Rhode Island and a Florida seafood company are accused of mislabeling some 1,500 pounds of Chinese salmon fillets as Russian salmon.

Federal authorities said Northern Fisheries and Brian D. Eliason, 48, of Rhode Island, were charged Thursday with conspiracy and for violating the Lacey Act, which prohibits the false identification of any fish which has been, or is intended to be, imported, sold, purchased, or received from any foreign country or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

Also indicted were 52-year-old Mark Platt and Shifco, based in Hialeah, Fla.
