BRISTOL — The city’s signature event, the Mum Festival, is struggling to make a comeback this year, but organizers are finding that funding it isn’t easy.

Festival chairwoman Darlene Sawe said there’s been great enthusiasm this year, but not enough in the way of contributions to cover the cost.

Including the parade, which costs about $12,000, the festival carries a price tag of about $30,000, Sawe said.

The Mum Festival Committee is short about $6,000 for the festival, which runs Sept. 24 through Oct. 10.
