Students Win Big At AIFD Student Design Competition

BALTIMORE – Several floral design students made their mark at AIFD’s 2015 Student Floral Design Competition that was held as part of AIFD’s 2015 National Symposium “Journey” that was held in Denver June 30-July 4.

The People’s Choice Award, which is voted on by Symposium attendees, went to So-Yeon Kim of City College of San Francisco. The Overall Student Highest Score award went to Camille Tedder of Mississippi State University and the Overall School Award went to City College of San Francisco.

In the Arrangement category, first place went to Hanna Souther of the University of Missouri. Second place went to Jinyoung Choi of Seneca College in Toronto, Canada and third place went to Taylor Whittlesey of Texas A&M University.

In the Body Flowers category there was a two way tie for first place between Rachel Sullins of Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, Wis. and Camille Tedder of Mississippi State University. There was a three way tie for second place between So-Yeon Kim of City College of San Francisco, Melissa Findlay of Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill. and Katelyn Hensley, also of Kishwaukee College. Third place went to Kyung Yun Kim ofCity College of San Francisco.

In the Bridal Bouquet category, first place went to Anahita Noshirvani of the College of Southern Nevada, second place went to So-Yeon Kim of City College of San Francisco and third place went to Kyung Yun Kim of City College of San Francisco.

In the Duplicate Design category Camille Tedder of Mississippi State University took first place, Hanna Souther of the University of Missouri took second place and Rachel Sullins of Gateway Technical College took third place.

Student AIFD (SAIFD) maintains chapters at 15 colleges and universities throughout the United States and Canada. SAIFD Chapters not only compete in the Annual Student Design Competition during AIFD’s National Symposium but also host Artist in Residence Programs throughout the year.
