Watson Donates 4,000 Lbs Of Pancake Mix To The Connecticut Food Bank

West Haven, CT – This week Watson team members produced 4,000 lbs of pancake mix for the Connecticut Food Bank. This mix is a complete mix, only water needs to be added. The 4,000 lbs of mix will produce 108,000 four-inch pancakes. At three pancakes per serving, it will provide 36,000 meals. The pancake mix is packaged in 50 lb bags, and is distributed by the Connecticut Food Bank through their network of community-based food programs, such as soup kitchens, food pantries, and shelters.

“Watson was founded in 1939. One of the original products we made back then was pancake mix,” said Moira Watson, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Watson Inc. “Our product lines have changed over the years, and we no longer sell pancake mix, but we have our original recipes still, and every year we produce a couple of runs especially for the Food Bank,” stated Watson.

Watson is committed to fostering health and well-being within our communities and the world. Summer time hunger is a major concern. As school lunch programs end with the school year, many families are faced with the challenge of providing additional meals. At Watson, we are engaging in several programs to help fight hunger. In addition to the pancake mix donation, Watson is conducting a Facebook campaign to support the Connecticut Food Bank in their fight against summer hunger. Watson is donating $1 to the Connecticut Food Bank for every “Page Like” they receive, up to $2,500. The Connecticut Food Bank is able to provide two nutritious meals for every dollar they receive.
