STANLEY BRIDGE – Canada’s aquaculture industry has gotten a $2.5 million boost after a funding announcement in P.E.I. Thursday.
Fisheries Minister Gail Shea was at Carr’s Oyster Bar Restaurant and Lounge to make the announcement, which will see nearly $2.5 million go to the Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance (CAIA) over the next two years to help the aquaculture industry increase the domestic and internation market share for Canadian aquaculture products.
With the investment, CAIA plans to do market research, attend international trade shows and lead missions to raise awareness of Canadian farmed seafood products and target marketing activities for farmed salmon, mussels, sablefish, sturgeon and oysters.
