Applegate Farms Releases Mission Report on Sustainability, Regenerative Ag

Applegate Farms has released it latest Mission Report.
The report highlights the brand’s continued progress in the areas of regenerative agriculture, animal welfare, and sustainability. It also introduces two new strategic initiatives designed to advance Applegate’s mission: “Changing The Meat We Eat.”
Groundwork is a series of projects focused on biodiversity, soil health, habitat restoration, conservation partnerships, diversified cropping systems and farmer resilience.
Regenerative Health is a research program that seeks to better understand and explore the relationship between regenerative agricultural practices and human health.
Some measurable outcomes from this year’s report include:
- Sourcing 100% of the beef for Applegate Organic Beef Hot Dogs from certified regenerative organic farms
- Avoiding an estimated 9.3 tons of antibiotics in the food supply,
- Slashing the need for 282,000 pounds of pesticides and 485,000 pounds of nitrogen fertilizer
Applegate plans to share more from the report, including research showing that Applegate’s The Great Organic Uncured Beef Hot Dogs have a more balanced omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acid ratio than several other popular protein sources, in the coming weeks.
