Bogotá — From July 2nd to 5th, Flowers of Colombia participated as a sponsor of the AIFD Symposium 2026, one of the most important gatherings in the floral industry in the United States, held this year under the theme “Elevate.”
Representing Asocolflores, Genoveva Pombo, Director of Communications and Marketing , attended the event’s academic and commercial program, strengthening relationships with the floral design community and promoting the value of Colombian flowers among one of our strategic audiences: professional florists and future leaders of the industry.
The AIFD Symposium brings together hundreds of floral designers, educators, and students each year who are seeking to obtain or strengthen their accreditation from the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), one of the most recognized certifications in the floral industry in the United States. The agenda combines training sessions, regional committee meetings, technical demonstrations, trend presentations, trade shows, and presentations by some of the world’s leading floral designers.
A setting for learning and inspiration
During the event it was possible to participate in different spaces of the program, including the Spotlight Stage , presentations in a more intimate format for small groups of attendees, and the Main Stage , the main stage where renowned international floral designers present demonstrations of a high technical and creative level.
The central theme of this year’s Symposium was “Elevate ,” an invitation to reflect on who has inspired and contributed to each floral designer’s professional growth and how that inspiration is reflected in their creative work.
The Main Stage featured renowned designers such as Dr. Solomon Leong, AIFD, PFCI; Ven Lam, AIFD; Howard Pang, AIFD; Bonnie Chu, AIFD and Tannus Saab , among others, who presented innovative floral interpretations that set trends in design, techniques, use of color and composition.
Indeed, one of the greatest strengths of this event is the opportunity to identify the key trends that will shape the market in the coming months. The proposals presented offer insights into new color combinations, design techniques, floral arrangement styles, and innovative ways of working with different varieties—information of great interest to our members. Some of these trends can be seen in the accompanying photographs.
Flowers of Colombia, increasingly present
As part of the Symposium sponsorship, Flowers of Colombia was the official sponsor of the Opening Reception , one of the most visible moments of the event.
The reception welcomed attendees in an atmosphere inspired by Colombia, with Colombian flags, music, Latin American cuisine, souvenirs, and a prominent floral display composed exclusively of Colombian flowers, including arrangements featuring the Flowers of Colombia brand .
This presence allowed Colombia to continue positioning itself not only as a supplier of high-quality flowers, but also as a country with a history, a culture, and a commitment to sustainability behind every flower.
Colombia on the stage
In recognition of Flowers of Colombia’s sponsorship, the organization invited Asocolflores to say a few words during the opening of the first session of the Main Stage , in front of approximately 600 attendees .
In a two-minute presentation, a message was shared about the value of Colombian flowers, the inspiration they represent for floral designers, and the human, social, and environmental stories behind each flower cultivated in Colombia. Participants were also invited to attend the Flowers of Colombia presentation later that day on the Spotlight Stage .
At the end of the presentation, the organization publicly acknowledged Flowers of Colombia for their support of the Symposium and presented them with a floral arrangement as a token of appreciation for their sponsorship.
Spotlight Stage: The Stories Behind the Flowers
On Friday afternoon, Flowers of Colombia was presented at the Spotlight Stage , a space aimed at a group of approximately 15 attendees interested in learning more about the origin of the flowers they use in their daily work.
The presentation was developed jointly with Queen’s Flowers , combining the vision of the Colombian production sector with the practical experience of a florist who works daily with flowers from Colombia.
Asocolflores shared data on the Colombian flower industry, the diversity of species and varieties, the sector’s social and environmental impact, and the stories behind each flower. Later, Queen’s Flowers showcased how these flowers become the stars of events, celebrations, and floral designs that reach thousands of consumers.
This format allowed attendees to learn more about the origin of the flowers they use and strengthen the connection between producers and floral designers.
A positioning that continues to grow
Participation in the AIFD Symposium confirms the growing recognition that Flowers of Colombia has achieved within this important community of floral designers.
Each year, the brand’s visibility at the event increases, as does the interest of attendees in learning more about the diversity, quality, and sustainability of Colombian flowers. For Asocolflores, these kinds of events represent a valuable opportunity to connect with the secondary consumers of our flowers: the floral designers who ultimately influence purchasing decisions and market trends.
Looking ahead, the goal is to continue strengthening this presence and consolidate Flowers of Colombia’s participation in larger venues, such as the Main Stage , whose sessions bring together between 400 and 600 attendees, including professional floral designers and students seeking to obtain the prestigious AIFD certification.
We will continue working to ensure that more and more florists learn about the stories behind each Colombian stem and find in our flowers a permanent source of inspiration for their creations.
