This National Diabetes Awareness Month (NDAM), Danone North America is putting a spotlight on an important conversation about the role nutrition can play in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes — and they’re doing it where people are already talking about health: Reddit.
On Wednesday, November 5th at 1:00pm ET, Danone will host a live “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) featuring diabetes expert Mary Ellen Phipps, alongside Amanda Blechman, registered Dietitian and Director of Nutrition & Scientific Affairs at Danone North America.
The AMA follows a landmark moment for the category: last year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the first-ever qualified health claim for yogurt in response to a petition by Danone North America, recognizing that “eating yogurt regularly, at least 2 cups (3 servings) per week, may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes according to limited scientific evidence.”
The Discussion Will Explore:
- How food choices — including yogurt — can influence metabolic health and diabetes risk
- Practical, accessible nutrition strategies for people seeking to better manage or prevent type 2 diabetes
- Expert insights into the evolving science linking gut health, glucose control, and balanced diets
This AMA is part of The Danone Group Chat: Type 2 Diabetes Nutrition Edition, a broader effort to make nutrition resources and expert guidance more accessible through retail activations, digital content, and continuing education for healthcare professionals to help empower people to reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes.
