ADPI and ABI are proud to announce that this year's conference program will address the manufactured dairy product industry's latest challenges, obstacles and opportunities with presentations from a wide range of speakers, including industry executives, government officials and academia. The Welcome Reception on Sunday evening will be a great way to kick-off the conference. As always, the annual golf outing will also take place on Sunday, with a 9am tee-time at the Ruffled Feathers Golf Course located in the Chicago suburb of Lemont.
Following a continental breakfast on Monday morning, a full day of outstanding speakers are on tap, starting with a panel of leading dairy economists consisting of Tim Hunt of Rabobank, Phil Plourd of Blimling and Associates and EarthRisk Technologies' meteorologist Jon Davis, who will be discussing the current market conditions and outlook. This will be followed by a panel discussion on "Meeting The Challenge To Nourish The World" which will include presentations on "Global Population Dynamics" from Bluford Putnam of CME Group and "The Role of Technology and Innovation in Feeding a Growing Global Population" by Dennis Schaffler of Elanco followed by Mr. Henrik Jorgen Andersen of Arla Food Ingredients who will discuss "Approaches on How the Dairy Industry Can Help Feed the Growing World Population," and Dominic Schofield, with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), who will share his thoughts on "Building Partnerships to Fight Malnutrition at Scale – Lessons Learned From GAIN's Experience."
Monday will also feature the Recognition Luncheon, where the recipients of ADPI's Award of Merit and Jim Page Memorial Scholarship will be announced. Nutrition will be the topic at hand for Monday afternoon's Industry Session. The Grand Chicago Reception, which is always a highlight of the Annual Meeting, will bring Monday's events to a close.
The Dairy Industry Breakfast on Tuesday morning will feature a presentation focusing on "Market Developments in Mexico and Latin America" by Richard Field of Orrani Consulting.
Following breakfast, we invite you to listen to some of the leading dairy industry chief executives discuss trade and the changing global structure.
This will be followed by a panel discussion titled "Whey Protein and the Sports Nutrition Sector." Jerry O'Dea, President/CEO of Ingredient Technologies for Glanbia will moderate this session which will include a Whey Protein Research Consortium report from WPRC chair Cheryl Reid, a presentation by Optimum Nutrition highlighting new developments in the sports nutrition sector, and a spotlight on new products containing whey proteins presented by Donna Berry, Berry on Dairy.
Chip English, with Davis Wright Tremaine LLP will address "Through the Looking Glass – How Washington, D.C. Reflects Dairy Policy" during the Industry Luncheon on Tuesday.
The Tuesday afternoon program will feature short briefings on a number of important industry topics, including updates on: GRAS status for concentrated milk proteins; FDA's implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA); reducing nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE) in dairy ingredients; the development of a Codex dairy permeate standard; new ADPI dairy ingredient industry standards; new 3-A Sanitary Standards; and developments at USDA's Dairy Market News.
Separate Board of Directors meetings for ADPI and ABI, as well as assorted committee meetings, will be held on both Monday and Tuesday.
