ATLANTA – With the FDA’s recent announcement to consider removal of partially hydrogenated oils from the list of ingredients generally recognized as safe (GRAS) in the production of foods, CSM Bakery Products is accelerating conversion of its full product portfolio with the anticipation of completion by the end of 2014, well ahead of the expected deadline.
Scott Boerman, VP Research & Development stated, “We will not wait. We are aggressively pursuing our goal to have the remaining portion of our product portfolio converted before the end of the year. Over the last five years, we have developed the technology for TranSmart™ products and have been using this in the development of new and innovative solutions. We will continue this direction as we complete the removal of partially hydrogenated oils from our portfolio over the next year.”
Since 2009, when state and local legislation effectively banned artificial trans fats, scientists and researchers at CSM Bakery Products have worked to develop the technology for TranSmart™ products, containing zero grams trans fat, with superior quality and performance. As a result, a portion of CSM Bakery Products portfolio has already been converted and there are a number of solutions for our customers who require conversion ahead of the FDA decision.
The decision to move quickly is grounded in our promise to continually deliver Solutions that Delight. We are committed to serving the needs of our customers and their patrons. As we go through this process, we will ensure transparency and ongoing communication to our customers relative to our progress. For additional information, please contact your sales representative.
