A ‘war of the roses’ has been triggered with a decision by Marks & Spencer to undercut independent florists with a bridal bouquet service.
The company says its flower selection will allow a couple worried about the cost of getting married to save more than £200 on flowers.
It will supply a typical package of bouquets, button holes and table decorations for £340, which compares to an average wedding figure of £560.
The chain has already mounted an assault on the lucrative bridal market and now sells one in ten of all the nation’s wedding cakes.
