FloraHolland – On the evening of Thursday 16 January, the winners of the FloraHolland Glazen Tulp Award 2014 were announced. This award is presented to the most successful market introduction and Rob Verlinden, TV presenter and chairman of the jury, announced the winners in the four categories of cut flowers, house plants, garden plants and sales concepts. The awards ceremony took place during a festive meeting at Hotels van Oranje in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
The winner in the category of cut flowers is Bondeni Flowers / Marginpar (Pvt) Ltd from Uitgeest, which won first prize for its Clematis Diversifolia Star River – a fantastically innovative product that is feminine and fits the current trends. Clematis Diversifolia Star River has the character of a garden plant that fits the Zeitgeist! The jury offers its compliments for cultivating Clematis Diversifolia Star River as a cut flower. It is a true innovation in this area.
The philodendron nursery Sjaak van der Sar from Zevenhuizen took first prize in the category of houseplants with its Alocasia zebrina – a lovely product with beautiful leaf stems, which suits modern interiors. There are few other plants with such beautifully patterned stems. This Alocasia zebrina is a clear innovation within the Alocasia group.
Ripaplant from Twello won the Glazen Tulp in the category of garden plants for their Verbena Lanai Twister Blue – a fantastic, and thankfully long-flowering Verbena with a gorgeous combination of colors.
Amigo Plant VOF from Heerhugowaard won the Glazen Tulp in the category of concepts for its Glowing Star in the dark® – a great concept that lights up these dark winter months. It makes a great gadget, too, and as such, it is a concept that appeals to a younger audience!

New products in Rob's 'Grote Tuinverbouwing' show
Rob Verlinden's television program, broadcast by Dutch channel SBS6, often features new flowers and plants. On 15 February 2014, SBS6 will be broadcasting the highlights of the Glazen Tulp 2014 awards ceremony.
