TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum spent Wednesday morning out on the water, talking innovation and economic impacts of the oyster industry region wide.

"What they're doing by way of creating and resurrecting an industry that many thought was dead, can be hugely important to us in redefining what this panhandle area, this panhandle region, means not only for the state of Florida but across the country,” said Gillum.

He’s talking about the Panacea Oyster Co-Op; a group of oyster ranchers who have come together to revive the oyster industry in the region. Right now, they’re headquartered out of Crawfordville on Spring Creek.
