Newark, Del. —  Produce Marketing Association (PMA) contracted with Andrés Rodríguez to be the association’s new representative in Chile. In this role, Rodríguez will be responsible for supporting PMA’s global development objectives in Chile, including member recruiting and retention, organizing events and programs, and advising PMA on ways to create greater value for Chilean members.

Rodríguez has 14 years of professional experience, including nine years working for fruit associations. Most recently, he served full time for seven years as executive director of Chilean Walnut Commission and Chile Prunes, organizations he still advises. Previously, he also served as marketing manager for North America and Latin America with the fresh fruit exporters association of Chile (ASOEX).

He also worked previously at a relationship marketing agency, where he was responsible for supervising marketing campaigns and creating news businesses for the agency. In addition, he managed global sales for a glass manufacturer for three years, overseeing domestic sales and exports to the USA, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Argentina and other markets.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universidad Diego Portales and a master’s degree in marketing from Griffith University in Australia. Rodríguez also has a postgraduate certificate in relationship marketing and international business from Universidad de Chile. He also taught for one year at Universidad Católica, instructing students about nut production and trade.

Rodríguez is looking forward to his new role, and helping PMA strengthen its global connections.

“It’s an honor to be the new representative of PMA in Chile,” he said. “I am ready to work with our Chilean fruit industry and looking for a constant synergy with the global community of PMA.”

In his new role, Rodríguez will work closely with member volunteer leaders in Chile, including the PMA Chile Country Council, and will connect with PMA members and other stakeholders to support growth of the fresh produce industry in Chile and Latin America.

“We are excited Andrés has decided to join PMA in this role. He has the experience needed, a good knowledge of the produce industry, and is well respected in Chile,” said Nancy Tucker, PMA Vice President of Global Business Development. “We believe his expertise, enthusiasm and work ethic will be instrumental in helping us to grow PMA in Chile and provide ongoing value to our members.”
