Shipt Partners With Memphis Kroger Stores

The grocery business is one of those retail segments where the experience has stayed pretty uniform and consistent for an extended period of time – and now it’s beginning to change and modernize, all of a sudden and in a big way.
Memphis abounds with plenty of examples. One of the latest: The arrival of Shipt, a Birmingham, Alabama-based online grocery marketplace that’s bringing on-demand, Uber-esque convenience to the act of buying milk, bread and other staples.
Shipt will be available to Memphis residents starting Dec. 1.
It’s an app-based service that will seem familiar to anyone who’s hailed an Uber before. Except instead of firing up an app and tapping a request for a car to be brought to your location, Shipt lets the user buy groceries that will be brought to their location instead.
