BARABOO, WI — Foremost Farms USA®’s reduced fat provolone cheese and whey products earned first place at the 2016 World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Products Contest. The cheese, produced at Clayton, Wisconsin, and demineralized whey at Plover, Wisconsin, will be recognized during the run of World Dairy Expo at the Alliant Energy Center, Madison, Wisconsin. This year’s show is Oct. 4 to 8.
Clayton’s reduced fat provolone has an impressive taste. While crafted with less fat compared to regular provolone, the award-winning cheese has a higher moisture content which gives it good body and functionality ideal for slicing.
“What’s so amazing, is that all of the cheese, whey and butter sent to contests like Expo, is product from a normal production day,” said Dirk Tachick, senior vice president of supply chain operations. “We don’t make special contest dairy products. Our products are award-winning every day.”
Plover has consistently placed or swept whey categories ever since whey was added to the Expo contest. Plover earned both a first and second place in the category for brand names Nutritek® 500 and 250, used in products like biscuits, chocolates and ice cream novelties.
“Both Plover and Clayton should be congratulated for winning their categories, along with many of our other plant employees who finished in the top three,” added Tachick. “I am so proud that we consistently win awards for our products. Dairy farmer members of Foremost Farms should also be congratulated as the quality of their milk puts us on the world stage. We expect this level of quality in all of our products each and every day for our customers.”
Reedsburg’s salted butter also earned a second place finish as did smoked provolone made at Chilton, Wisconsin.
Visitors to World Dairy Expo will be able to sample the reduced fat provolone at the Foremost Farms booth in Exhibition Hall.
