EAGLE, IDAHO — The Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) released one stop-motion animation and two videos that bring to life the versatility of Idaho® potatoes and the beauty of cooking with fresh, colorful ingredients. By using unique and engaging graphics and creative cinematography, the wholesomeness of Idaho® potatoes is showcased in an entirely new way.

Numerous studies indicate video consumption is on the rise and not expected to slow down anytime soon.

  • According to YouTube, mobile video viewing increases by 100% every year
  • 90% of viewers say that watching a video helps with their purchase decision (Insivia, 2016)
  • Invodo reports that 92% of mobile video consumers share videos with others

“With more and more consumers turning to videos for news and entertainment, we wanted to create culinary videos that stop consumers in their tracks that they can’t help but share through social media,” explained Frank Muir, President and CEO, IPC. “These three new videos underscore the versatility of Idaho® potatoes and remind viewers to always look for the Grown in Idaho™ seal.”

Two of the videos artfully demonstrate how to make Idaho® Potato Doughnut Holes with Salted Caramel Glaze and Idaho® Potato and Beet Galette. A combination of dramatic food shots, playful props and contemporary music put these culinary masterpieces in a class all of their own. The third, a mesmerizing stop-motion animation titled Kale-Idaho® Potato-Scope, features many of the potato varieties grown in Idaho including Purple Peruvians, Russets, Fingerlings, Yukon Golds and Reds. The slices arrange themselves in a sort of kaleidoscope pattern and it is nearly impossible to look away!

The videos were produced by Monica Stevenson and Lainey Dubinsky. Their creativity and ingenuity comes from years of working together. The combination of their skill sets plus an unbeatable work ethic results in detail-oriented, whimsical, and highly enjoyable videos.

About The Idaho Potato Commission

Established in 1937, the IPC is a state agency responsible for promoting and protecting the famous “Grown in Idaho™” seal, a federally registered certification mark that assures consumers are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes. Idaho’s growing season of warm days and cool nights, ample mountain-fed irrigation, and rich volcanic soil give Idaho® potatoes their unique texture, taste and dependable performance, which differentiates them from potatoes grown in other states.
