TUV NORD Now Offers Global SQF Certification

TUV NORD GROUP now offers Safe Quality Food (SQF) certification for U.S. food producers, processors, distributors and brokers and is one of only three certifying bodies to offer this certification globally.
The SQF program from the Safe Quality Food Institute, recognized by retailers and foodservice providers around the world as a rigorous food safety management system, is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). The SQF program offers certificates for primary production, food manufacturing, distribution and agent/broker management. With this certification, suppliers can assure customers that food has been produced, processed, prepared and handled according to the highest possible standards.
The stringent SQF programs can also help prepare U.S. companies to comply with FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) rules put in place last year. “SQF certification provides companies with a definite advantage as they work to fulfill FSMA requirements,” says Sebnem Karasu, Director, Food Division of TUV USA. Some of the compliance areas include supplier controls, food safety planning, HACCP certifications, environmental monitoring and verification and validation.
TUV NORD GROUP, which has auditors in all GFSI categories, also offers combined GFSI audits, so that SQF and other certification programs, such as BRC or FSSC, can be conducted concurrently, for additional time savings and cost efficiencies.
