Nova Scotia is set to profit from Asia’s “exponentially increasing” demand for our seafood and other agri-food products, says Peter Hall, chief economist at Ottawa-based Crown corporation Export Development Canada.

Hall, who recently delivered EDC’s export outlook for 2016, said the “stars have aligned” for Canadian seafood exporters.

A strong U.S. dollar, recovering demand in developed markets and fast-rising Asian desire for Canadian seafood and agri-food products is diversifying Canadian seafood exports. And that is helping shield the seafood sector from currency and market fluctuations within traditional markets such as the U.S.
