Salinas, CA – Salinas-based nonprofit, Ag Against Hunger, announced this week that they have hired Lynn Figone as the organization’s new Executive Director. Ag Against Hunger’s mission is to help end hunger by channeling fresh, healthy surplus fruit and vegetables from local farms to food banks and schools. They work with growers, shippers and processors in the tri-county area of Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. Figone replaces Lindsay Coate, the organization’s Executive Director since late 2012.
Colby Pereira, President of the Board, believes that Figone’s love for agriculture along with her great leadership qualities made her a clear choice for this role. “The Board of Directors is excited to have Lynn take on the position of Executive Director. Lynn’s extensive background in nonprofits, as well as agriculture, makes her a great fit for this role. Her passion for AAH’s mission will help her grow the reach and depth of this great organization.”
Figone comes to Ag Against Hunger from Marin Agricultural Land Trust, where she worked for the past four years. She is the current State President of California Women for Agriculture, and is also actively involved in the Salinas Valley Chapter of CWA. Figone was past National Secretary of American Agri-Women. She and her family recently relocated to this area from Northern California.
