DALLAS, TX – Aggies for Fresh, established by DMA Solutions, Inc., will host ten hand-selected students from Texas A&M University at this year’s Viva Fresh Produce Expo as part of a campaign to bring more talent into the fresh produce industry. With support from the Texas International Produce Association and other industry leaders at the event, the students will have chance to meet with companies one-on-one to learn more about the vast opportunities that the fresh produce industry offers.

The students will be looking to better understand roles within the industry, while seeking internships and full-time positions. New this year, attendees will have the chance to meet the students at the Aggies for Fresh reception, taking place Friday evening at 4 pm – 5 pm.

This year’s Viva Fresh scholarship recipients include:

  • Jonathan Prieto, Bachelor’s of Plant and Environmental Soil Science (December 2017)

  • Shelby Barrow, Bachelor’s of Agricultural Systems Management (August 2017)
  • Victor Flores, Bachelor’s of Food Science and Technology (May 2017)

“The reason that these students chose to attend Texas A&M is the same reason they will make great additions to this industry,” said president and CEO of DMA Solutions, Inc. Texas A&M University, being one of the largest Agricultural Science schools in the world, closes aligns its core values to that of the fresh produce industry. The university seeks to enable the students with the resources necessary to answer the grand challenges agriculture faces daily.

“Last year, the two graduating seniors found opportunities within the fresh produce industry upon graduation,” added Almy.  “This year, with seven graduating in May, we’re hoping for a similar outcome.
