World Citrus Organisation Expands Its Membership With Its First Mexican Member

The World Citrus Organisation is happy to report that it now counts among its members Citrojugo, a Mexican producer, processor and marketer of acid citrus-based juices, essential oils, and dried peels. Citrojugo represents the WCO’s first Mexican member and represents a watershed in the growing interest of the citrus sector in the Americas in connecting more closely with the global citrus community.

On the 7 February 2023, the World Citrus Organisation (WCO) held a meeting for members of the Organisation’s global citrus community to exchange on citrus consumption and market developments. The meeting gathered leading citrus stakeholders from across the world to analyse the citrus sector’s place in current fruit and vegetable consumption trends, as well as market evolutions in Europe and in particular Germany, the home of Fruit Logistica.

The World Citrus Organisation Northern Hemisphere Citrus Forecast Shows Significant Drop in Citrus Production

The World Citrus Organisation (WCO) has released its annual Northern Hemisphere Citrus Forecast for the upcoming citrus season (2022-23). The Forecast, which was presented during the third edition of the Global Citrus Congress on 30 November 2022 online, is based on data from Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, and the United States. This year the Forecast shows that citrus production is projected to reach 25,958,275 T, which represents a 13% decrease compared to the previous season.

New Citrus World Statistics Publication Boosts Citrus Sector Information Exchange in the World Citrus Organisation

This month the World Citrus Organisation (WCO) released a new publication, ‘Citrus World Statistics’, for WCO members to boost citrus sector information exchange. The extensive publication compiled by CIRAD covers global citrus data for the period summer 2021 to winter 2021-2022. The Citrus World Statistics publication is part of the Organisation’s objective in its 2022-2024 Strategy to share citrus information in knowledge exchange exercises to foster global citrus collaboration.

On 4-5 October 2022, in the setting of Fruit Attraction, the World Citrus Organisation (WCO) brought together the citrus community at two separate events to discuss the latest developments for the sector. During the WCO Conference on October 4, the WCO welcomed citrus stakeholders to present its Strategy for 2022-2024, in addition to its new Citrus Statistical Book with the latest citrus sector market data.
