USApple Announces New NextGen Apple Fellowship; Applications Open Dec. 1

The U.S. Apple Association today announced the launch of its new emerging apple leader program, the NextGen Apple Fellowship. The program will focus on providing eight fellows annually with career development, one-on-one mentoring, hands-on advocacy experience, community service work and many other added benefits. Applications open today, December 1.

Following the start to agricultural trade negotiations last week at the U.S.-India Trade Policy Forum in New Delhi, the U.S. Apple Association today said more needs to be done to ensure U.S. apple growers can once again compete in the Indian market.

USApple Launches 2021-22 Apples4Ed Grant Program

The U.S. Apple Association has launched its 2021-22 Apples4Ed initiative—a grant program that supports healthy eating initiatives in public schools across the United States. USApple will fund five $4,000 healthy eating initiatives on campuses in 2022. 

USApple: Many Apple Businesses Will be Left Out of COVID-19 Assistance Program

Many U.S. apple businesses won’t qualify for Critical COVID-relief assistance that was announced today by the Agriculture Department, said the U.S. Apple Association. The $700 million Pandemic Response and Safety (PRS) Grant program is intended to support businesses that incurred worker housing and transportation costs, as well as personal protective equipment, testing and other related expenses. But, says USApple, the program’s focus on small producers means many U.S. apple businesses won’t be eligible.

USApple Elects Chris Alpers Board Chair for 2021-22 Term

The U.S. Apple Association has named a new chair to lead its board of directors. Michigan grower Chris Alpers of RedPath Orchards and Alpers Farms will serve the 2021-22 term.
