Local Bounti Expands Distribution with Sam’s Club

Local Bounti Corporation announced that it has expanded distribution with its customer, Sam’s Club, for its leafy greens production with service commencing from the Company’s recently opened CEA facility in Mount Pleasant, Texas.  Local Bounti is now fulfilling shipments to six of Sam’s regional distribution centers from two of its facilities, including Byron, Georgia.

Sam’s Club’s rapid deployment of its exit technology represents the largest-scale implementation of member-facing AI-powered technology in the retail industry. The retailer’s announcement of reaching the milestone of deploying at 20 percent of its clubs in the first quarter comes as other retailers have struggled to deploy similar technology at scale, with some abandoning efforts, just starting initial pilots, or have not shared plans to enhance customer experiences through checkout and store exit technologies.

From November 2023 through February 2024, Thx! featured farmworker stories on every package of Pedregal Red Dragon® grapes sold nationwide at Sam’s Club stores and online. Since the launch in October, more than 40,000 shoppers scanned the QR code on the co-branded label to watch the heartfelt videos of each farmworker sharing aspects of their life and a specific dream, which will be fulfilled via the Thx! partnership program with Pedregal.
