Pear Bureau Northwest celebrates 90 years of fruitful collaboration with Washington and Oregon fresh pear growers to drive demand for Northwest pears. Washington and Oregon pear growers fund the bureau through a federal marketing order, the oldest of its kind. In 1931, the newly created Oregon-Washington Pear Bureau began its first promotion program in the fall with an approved $15,000 budget to market that season’s 2.1 million boxes of winter pears. On December 4, 1931 it was official when growers filed articles of incorporation in Washington.

As more of their organic trees come into production this season, Honeybear will have a significantly larger domestic organic crop. Northwest Fresh Pear Industry Announces Exceptional Quality Harvest for 2021

With harvest in full swing throughout the four growing regions of the Pacific Northwest, the pear industry is releasing the first official estimate of the 2021-22 fresh pear crop for Washington and Oregon. The industry’s fresh pear estimate is 16.1 million standard box equivalents, which is very close to a four-year average.
