The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that producers of south Florida avocados voted to continue their marketing order program.

New York State’s Apple Industry Votes to Continue $ 2M Marketing Program

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (AGM) today announced that the State’s apple industry has voted in support of continuing the grower-funded $2 million Apple Marketing Order (AMO) program. New York apple growers are asked to approve of the program through a referendum vote every 8 years. The program is administered by AGM.

USDA Amends Tomato Marketing Order

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is amending the Florida Tomato Marketing Order to reduce membership of the Florida Tomato Committee from 12 to 10, extend the length of the terms of office from one to two years, and reduce the quorum requirements from eight to six.

USDA Withdraws Proposal Affecting California Desert Grapes Marketing Order and Table Grape Import Regulation Exemptions

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has withdrawn a proposal to remove varietal exemptions from the marketing order for table grapes grown in Southeastern California and the table grape import regulation. The current varietal exemptions for table grapes grown in Southeastern California and imported grapes will continue to be in effect.

USDA Terminates Southeastern States Irish Potato Marketing Order

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is terminating the marketing order regulating the handling of Irish potatoes grown in designated counties of Virginia and North Carolina. The marketing order was established in 1948 but has been suspended twice since 2011 and is currently not active.
