Michael Dykes, D.V.M., President and CEO of the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), released the following statement today on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) announcement of investments of $1.5 billion for purchasing healthy foods for school meals programs and $500 million for responding to supply chain disruptions.

IDFA Opens Nominations for Annual Industry Awards

The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) is seeking nominations for three top awards presented annually to leaders in the dairy industry. Nominations open today and will close on Friday, Oct. 29. Winners will be announced and recognized at Dairy Forum 2022 in Palm Desert, Calif. Nominations are now open for the following awards: the IDFA Laureate Award, the 2022 Innovative Dairy Farmer of the Year Award, and the IDFA Food Safety Leadership Award.

“The funding bill passed yesterday by the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations is a win for the health and wellness of all Americans. The Committee voted to triple the amount of funding going to support the SNAP Healthy Fluid Milk Incentives Projects (HFMIP) as part of the fiscal year 2022 appropriations bill for the USDA, FDA, and related agencies.”
