Grown on local farms in the Hatch Valley of southwestern New Mexico’s Rio Grande region, Hatch Chiles are picked, packed and shipped in a single day, hitting shelves in as little as 24-hours after harvest.

Balls Foods Stores once again celebrates the Hatch Chile Season. Hatch Chile peppers are grown and harvested in the Hatch Valley region of New Mexico. The season typically runs from August to September and the chiles are known to be hard to produce but well worth the effort. While the flavorful chiles can be eaten raw, with a crisp, spicy flavor, they are typically roasted which produces a smoky, rich, earthy, sometimes buttery flavor.

Hatch Chile Season is Back at United Supermarkets, Market Street, Albertsons Market and Amigos With Chile Roastings & Special Products

Beginning the weekend of July 29, United Supermarkets, Market Street, Albertsons Market and Amigos locations across Texas and New Mexico will kick off Hatch chile season by roasting fresh Hatch chiles on site. Roastings will happen at all locations the first two weekends. Then, roastings will continue the following weekends at select locations until supplies run out.
