Danone North America, one of the largest purpose-driven food and beverage companies, is proud to announce it has selected the 2023-2024 recipients of the Annual Gut Microbiome, Yogurt and Probiotic Fellowship Program. This year, Evan Chrisler of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Arushana Maknojia of Baylor College of Medicine have been awarded $25,000 each to conduct research to help further the understanding of the gut microbiome, yogurt and probiotics.

This year, Madison Adamthwaite of Harvard University and Nam Than of The University of Texas at Austin have been awarded $25,000 each to conduct research which will help to further the understanding of the Gut Microbiome, Yogurt and Probiotics.

Danone North America, the purpose-driven food and beverage leader, is proud to announce that for the 11th year in a row, it will award two graduate students $25,000 each for conducting research to further study the role of the gut microbiome, yogurt and probiotics for human health. Scientists in the field have found that the microbial community, or microbiome of the gut, affects not only gastrointestinal health, but has links to the brain, immune system and even our circadian clocks. The health of the gut microbiome has also been associated with certain chronic disease risk, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Danone North America continues to show its commitment to furthering research, science, and education in the field of the Gut Microbiome, Yogurt and Probiotics through their Fellowship Grant Program. The 2021-2022 program marks ten years and half a million dollars’ worth of grants awarded to empower creative minds and nurture scientific advances. This year’s esteemed honorees, selected by a committee of scientific experts, are Elena Kozlova at University of California, Riverside and Yannis Ntekas at Cornell University.
