Dairy Groups Call on USDA to Expedite Emergency Assistance During COVID-19 Crisis

Groups representing dairy farmers and cooperatives in the Midwest today urged the federal government to provide direct assistance to farmers and to expedite the purchase of additional dairy foods amid unprecedented disruptions in supply and demand due to the COVID-19 national emergency.

The Dairy Business Association and Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative today launched a new podcast — “Dairy Stream” — that opens a door to dairy’s many dimensions. The podcast topics will range from emerging technology and customer trends to government policy and innovation in conservation.

“Policy picnics” were held in July around Wisconsin to update members on regulatory issues, to collect ideas for policy-related solutions in Madison (DBA) or Washington (Edge), and to encourage members to participate in lobbying efforts. The events, held each summer, also connect members with each other.
