California Avocado Forecast Shows Increase Over Last Season

The California Avocado Commission’s 2022 pre-season forecast projects a 306-million-pound crop, which is nearly a 15% increase over the last fiscal year. The majority of the harvest will be the Hass variety; Lamb Hass, GEM and other varieties also are being commercially grown.

California Avocado Commission Promotes Angela Fraser

The California Avocado Commission has promoted Angela Fraser to Director of Trade and Legal Affairs. Fraser, who has worked for the Commission for 21 years will provide oversight and management of corporate legal affairs. She also will continue to lead the strategy, planning, production, execution and budget of the California Avocado Commission’s nutrition program.

California Avocados Take A Road Trip

Consumers across the country and in particular in the West are fulfilling their pent-up desire to travel and still stay relatively close to home by taking road trips. Recognizing this trend, the California Avocado Commission produced three road trip videos that meld iconic California locations with in-season California avocados.

The World Avocado Organization (WAO) and the historic San Diego Yacht Club will host the second edition of the World Avocado Cup Regatta on July 31 – August 1, 2021. The regatta is co-sponsored by the Peruvian Avocado Commission and the California Avocado Commission (CAC).

California Avocado Commission Offers Summer Marketing Support

Peak availability of California avocados continues in July, and the California Avocado Commission’s summer advertising and trade program is running at full steam. Support includes “The best avocados have California in them” advertising campaign, which increases brand linkage and awareness that the fruit is in season. Consumer public relations activities and customized trade promotions work hand-in-hand with the advertising messaging.
