Cal-Maine Foods provided an update on the status of the Company’s facilities located in Florida following landfall of Hurricane Ian and the related flooding in the region. The Company reports that some of its farms and production facilities have sustained only minor physical damage and light flooding, and several locations have lost power and are currently operating on back-up generators. At this time, the Company does not anticipate any material loss in egg production.

Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. Announces $23.0 Million Capital Project to Expand Cage-Free Production in Florida

The project will include the construction of two cage-free layer houses and one cage-free pullet house with capacity for approximately 400,000 cage-free hens and 210,000 pullets, respectively. Construction will commence immediately with first pullet placements planned by mid-May 2022 and the first layer house finished by October 1, 2022, with the second layer house and project completion expected by February 1, 2023.
