Awhile back, I made fish tacos to hand out as samples at the supermarket. I used a farmed white fish called Swai (pronounced s-why).
Customers had not heard of this fish. If you like tilapia, catfish or basa, you’ll like Swai; plus, it makes a wonderful fish taco.
The farmed Swai that I used is imported from Vietnam. The white fish has a mild, sweet flavor and flaky texture. It's currently only imported to the U.S. in a frozen fillet form.
Swai is versatile and can be sautéed, baked, broiled, breaded and fried. It can be substituted for sea bass, Basa and catfish.
