Skokie Wholesaler Abe's Smoked Fish Expands To Retail

SKOKIE — Abe’s Smoked Fish, a seafood wholesaler that has been part of Skokie’s east side industrial area for about 10 years, will expand into retail on a small-time basis.
The Skokie Village Board Feb. 18 unanimously approved petitioner Adi Kohn’s request for a special use permit to operate a small shop on the premises at 8200 Christiana Ave. The permit was needed to move forward with the shop because Abe’s is located in a manufacturing district.
The retail area is pegged for only 220 square feet and will include a display case and a sales counter. The business will expand its hours for the retail shop and will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The wholesale portion of the business operates from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
