GLOUCESTER— Gloucester residents in need will continue to receive the support they need this spring thanks to $34,000 in funding provided to Catholic Charities North from local and international seafood companies and their service suppliers. This year the Catholic Charities North Fishing Community Fund included donations from more than 30 companies and individuals, increasing the total amount raised by 25 percent over last year.
The Fishing Community Fund received a $10,000 grant from the Sailor’s Snug Harbor as well as substantial contributions from private donors and local and international seafood companies and their service suppliers. Major donors included American Seafoods Group, LLC, Arista Industries, Bama Seafood Products, CB Richard Ellis, Elite Seafood, Espersen, Hai Yang International, High Liner Foods, Jeffrey Kaneb, National Development, National Fish & Seafood, and Northern Marine.
Other supporters included American Refrigeration, Catania-Spagna Corporation, Eastern Fish, Yuval Gattegno, Harbor Seafoods, Ipswich Shellfish, Label Print America, Marine Stewardship Council, Old Neighborhood and Preferred Freezer Services.
With the support of these partners and through the work of the Catholic Charities North Advisory Board, the organization is able to provide essential services to families in need in the Gloucester community.
