NEW BEDFORD — Seafood buyers representing eight countries were in New Bedford in March, touring the cities' fishing boats and seafood operations.
Approximately 15 companies visited the Whaling City Seafood Auction and four seafood processing companies before attending a luncheon with New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell.
Countries represented included China, Colombia, France, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands and Taiwan.
The tour is an annual feature for attendees to the International Boston Seafood Show. Food Export USA, a non-profit export promotion organization, sponsored the visit specifically to promote northeastern U.S. seafood exports, according to the Massachusetts Export Center.
