HUDSON – US Senator Charles Schumer wants a federal crackdown on Chinese fish imports.
He voiced his concerns at the Local Ocean Fishery in Hudson last Friday morning. Schumer claims some of the seafood we're getting from China is contaminated with carcinogens we don't allow in our domestic fish.
He says the questionable Chinese imports unfairly compete with the US fish industry. Only about 1% of the fish coming to this country from China is inspected when it arrives.
