Stone crabs made a comeback in the seven-month season of claw harvest that ends Tuesday.

"From the first week of the season, there were a lot of crabs and a lot of them were big," said biologist Ryan Gandy, a crab specialist for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute.

"This year reversed a trend of low catches that we've been seeing for the past five or six years," Gandy said.
