One of Oregons biggest oyster companies faces a recall after eight people became sick this month.
The eight people, who developed gastro-intestinal symptoms, all ate Oregon Oyster Farms, Inc., oysters dished up in Lincoln County restaurants or sold at least one store, said Dawn Smith, food safety specialist at the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
The recall coincides with the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival, which starts Friday and continues through the weekend.
Christine Stone, spokeswoman from the Public Health Division, said the eight people were from Lincoln, Benton and Multnomah counties. “There were no hospitalizations or deaths,” she said.
