CHARLESTON, Ore. (AP) — Hallmark Fisheries of Charleston, Ore., is recalling several packaged crab meat products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. No illnesses have been reported.
The crab meat is sold under the brands Hallmark, Peacock, Quality Ocean International and Yaquina Bay in five-pound cans, one-pound vacuum packs, one-pound plastic tubs and eight-ounce plastic tubs. It was distributed in Washington, Nevada, Oregon and California, primarily to food service companies.
