The severe weather that damaged homes and took out wharfs and breakwaters in the Maritimes has claimed even more victims as lobster fishermen report substantial gear losses, just as their season is at its peak.
Some of the hardest hit, along Nova Scotia's south shore, lost almost everything.
It's estimated that about half the fishermen who set traps between Halifax and Cape Sable Island have lost traps to the strong winds and tides of the past couple of weeks.
Anything that was set in water of less than 50 metres was in danger of being swept away.
