BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources opened Areas II “A” and II “C” Conditionally Approved Waters to the harvest of oysters on Saturday, March 19. This area had been closed due to rainfall amounts exceeding the management plan criteria.
· Area II “A” Conditionally Approved Waters (open) – This area includes northern portions of the Pass Christian and Henderson Point reefs and Hornets Reef for tonging only.
· Area II “C” Conditionally Approved Waters (open) – and its subdivisions of II “E” (including Square Handkerchief Reef and southern portions of Henderson Point Reef), II “F” (including southern portions of the Pass Christian Reef) and II “G” (including northern portions of the Pass Marianne and Telegraph reefs) for tonging only.
These areas were reopened for harvest when water sample results met the management plan criteria for reopening.
