Maryland Oyster Season Off To A Good Start

EASTON — The start of oyster season is looking good so far, watermen reported on Wednesday, Oct. 7, about a week after the season officially opened.

Maryland Department of Natural Resource Deputy Director of Fisheries Gina Hunt said that, while there has been a lot of good news in the last couple years in regards to oyster reproduction, this year will likely not be a banner year for harvest numbers like the last few seasons.

Oyster season opened for hand and patent tonging and divers on Thursday, Oct. 1.
