History's first genetically engineered fish destined for the dinner plate still swims in that amorphous space between approval and denial.
Despite grumblings earlier this year that U.S. authorities were about to make a move, and either approve this salmon for human consumption or deny its entry into the marketplace, the AquaBounty AquAdvantage fish still awaits its fate.
"We're still waiting, but we're hopeful we'll get an approval," says AquaBounty Technologies chief executive Ron Stotish. "If you wish to know if we're disappointed that it's taken so long, yes we are."
