Jacksonville, Fla. — Former NBA star and Hall of Famer Artis Gilmore will be signing photographs at Beaver Street Fisheries (BSF) booth #4643 at the 2011 National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show at McCormick Place in Chicago. Gilmore will be at the booth from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22. The BSF booth will also showcase a variety of new and upgraded products from the BSF signature Sea Best brand.
Mark Frisch, executive vice president of Jacksonville-based Beaver Street Fisheries, says the relationship with Gilmore represents the connection between the seafood supplier and its hometown of more than 60 years.
Gilmore was a star center for the Jacksonville University Dolphins before playing for the Kentucky Colonels in the American Basketball Association and for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA. He was nicknamed “The A-Train” for his endurance and reliability, having once played in 670 consecutive games.
“We are excited to have Artis in our booth at the 2011 NRA show and to have his unwavering support as a prominent member of the community,” said Frisch.
Gilmore’s participation in the NRA show came as a result of the ties both Frisch and Gilmore have with Jacksonville University. Frisch is a member of the Jacksonville University Board of Trustees while Gilmore, a graduate of Jacksonville University, is now special assistant to the university’s president and serves in various public relations capacities. Gilmore also provides radio color commentary for basketball games on the school's flagship station, WJXL.
The annual NRA show has been named the largest and most comprehensive restaurant and hospitality industry trade show in the Western Hemisphere.
