Wichita-based GreenAcres Inc. will take over management of the three Whole Foods Association stores in Wichita and two others in Oklahoma, and it plans to close on the purchase of all five by Oct. 31.
Terms of the deal were not released.
Barb Hoffmann, CEO of GreenAcres, says the combination is all about scale.
“You’ve got to grow so that you have buying power, and it gives you more strength in the industry,” she says. “It just makes a difference.”
GreenAcres Market stores are at Bradley Fair in northeast Wichita, in Kansas City, Mo., and in Jenks, Okla., near Tulsa. GreenAcres plans a second Kansas City store near Country Club Plaza in 2015.
