Earlier this year, Wegmans began an expansion in Massachusetts, adding to its current Northborough location by opening a new store in Chestnut Hill. Wegmans fans rejoiced – the grocery chain with its heaviest presence in New York state has an enthusiastic following by those who know the ins and outs of the store, complete with features like a stacked prepared foods section, Mediterranean bar and premium deli.
And last week, Wegmans continued its push in the Boston area when it opened the newest location in Burlington, pictured above. (Someday, a Wegmans should be coming to Fenway as well.) And not only did the chain open a new store, but it added its own grocery shopping app to the Apple and Android stores as well.
The Wegmans app, unlike local grocery apps and services like Peapod and Instacart that deliver from a variety of nearby stores, doesn't deliver food to shoppers' homes (yet). But for those dedicated to – or intimidated by – Wegmans, the app allows for a stress-free, virtual shopping experience you can manage from your phone, ensuring a breezy trip to the store.
